Guidelines for researchers to probe difficult issues in family planning, HIV transmission, gender, women's health, etc. to help enhance the quality of people's lives. The guide provides researchers with tools to make realistic decisions on complex research questions, highlights the value of emphasizing qualitative research capacity-building within research teams, and describes ways in which to promote dissemination and timely utilization of study findings. It also contains short case studies or "Field Perspectives" by experts who have conducted qualitative research on sexual and reproductive health in developing country settings.
